Mr. Smith is an experienced transactional and litigation attorney representing clients that include small businesses, international corporations, banks, real estate investment ventures, and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Smith is regularly involved with the negotiation and preparation of contracts, joint venture agreements, leases, security agreements, title instruments, real estate documents, corporate planning, and the establishment of establishing tax-exempt organizations.
As general outside counsel to several businesses and entrepreneurs, whether for or not for profit, Mr. Smith advises and assists with a variety of legal issues pertinent to operations, employment, tax, corporate governance, in addition to advising on general business development strategies. Mr. Smith integrates his knowledge and experience with federal government procurement channels to assist qualified clients in obtaining government contracts. Additionally, Mr. Smith is well versed in religious liberty and church law, representing several local churches and global denominational church organizations as to their unique legal affairs.
Mr. Smith also serves as a Magistrate Court Judge in Cherokee County.
Mr. Smith was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia to Church of God missionary parents from Savannah, Georgia. Aside from Jakarta, Mr. Smith has lived in Singapore, Australia, and the United States in Georgia (Savannah, Macon, and Atlanta) and Tennessee (Cleveland). Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia (the Indonesian national language) and conversant in French, Mr. Smith frequently assists domestic and international clients alike with business matters outside the United States.
When not practicing law, Mr. Smith is very involved as a member of his community, serving on the board of several charitable and community organizations, Mr. Smith was named among the 2022 “Top 10 Young Professionals to Watch” by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and among Georgia Trend’s “2022 Legal Elite”. Mr. Smith is the chairperson for an annual 5K fundraiser to benefit displaced children in Cherokee County, coaches academy level soccer, is a little league umpire, and leads several children’s environments at his local church. In his leisure time, Mr. Smith enjoys competing in obstacle course races, advancing in Brazilian jiujitsu, traveling, playing soccer, and watching Atlanta United or the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Smith lives in Cherokee County with his wife, Brittany, and children, Drew & Madi, along with their five dogs.
